Fixing Up The Basement

XA basement is a very useful piece of space, that is, its useful when you want it to be. Finishing a basement may be used for a number of different things.

Basement remodeling is not something that just about anyone should attempt. It requires nearly extensive planning, as well as the ability to take into account a lot of other variables. There are many things that need to be done to accomplish a basement remodeling project. One of these things is the flooring, are there any uneven or slanted parts of the floor? Is there are then you might consider placing wooden flooring to cover up these things.

Wooden flooring will make your basement look better. But make sure to leave space between the wooden flooring and the original floor, don't remove those drains, your basement still needs them to be there.

Then there is the construction of walls. You will either want to build them standing up, meaning against the foundations, but not literally against the foundations, or build them lying down on the floor for you to tilt up later. Kindly remember that when using the tilt up approach to building walls one must make the wall three-fourths shorter than the full height of what the wall will be. This is done so that when you tilt up the wall it wont hit the ceiling, just fill in the space with some foam or something. Another thing to remember is that there should still be some space between your new walls and the foundations in order for the plumbers, and elecrtricians to have some space to work with. One last thing concerning the walls, the wall studs, and the floor joists should be aligned.

Some other things to take into account when basement remodeling is to make a schedule as to when the plumbers and the electricians you will want to hire will do their thing, but before those two you should have someone fix the ventilation of the basement, or you can do that yourself.

Now then the next thing that you should concern yourself with is the wall surface, do you want to use a plain drywall, so that you can just add onto it later, panneling, or dare it be said, artificial stone.

Somewhere above there wooden flooring is mentioned, you can just cover up the drain with these, and leave the rest of the floor alone, just make sure that the floor is flat. You can cover up the wood and the concrete with vinyl tiles to give them that extra color and or shine, plus they are easier to clean and maintain as compared to hardwood.

Oh, and one more thing, thing may sound nuts, but you may also want to install some fire sprinklers in your basement, you never know when and where the next fire will strike.

So enjoy your basement remodeling experience, be safe and have fun!
